Prominent Pakistani Journalist Matiullah Jan Arrested in Islamabad
Matiullah Jan, a well-known Pakistani journalist, was reportedly arrested in Islamabad, according to sources on Thursday.
Details reveal that a case has been registered against Matiullah at the Margalla Police Station.
The FIR alleges that the journalist’s driver attempted to run over law enforcement personnel who signaled the vehicle to stop. Instead of complying, the driver allegedly accelerated toward the officers, endangering their lives. The police managed to stop the vehicle by using a barrier.
The FIR further claims that Matiullah Jan was present in the vehicle, where authorities found drugs (specifically ice) on the seat. The case includes charges of attempted murder and other serious offenses.
Previous Abduction Incident
This is not the first controversy surrounding Matiullah Jan. In 2020, the journalist was reportedly abducted by unidentified individuals in broad daylight from Islamabad’s Sector G-6.
Following nearly 12 hours in captivity, Jan was released near Fateh Jang town, Punjab. Sources reported that he returned home with his brother after being dropped off by the kidnappers at an undisclosed location.
