Former Indian cricket captain Sunil Gavaskar has suggested that Rohit Sharma may step down as captain if he fails to perform in the upcoming Test matches.
Gavaskar predicted that if Rohit underperforms in the upcoming matches in Melbourne and Sydney, he might choose to resign rather than wait for the selectors’ decision. “If Rohit Sharma fails to score runs in the last two Test matches, I believe he will step down as captain,” Gavaskar said.
The legendary cricketer also mentioned that Rohit would not want to be a burden on the team, emphasizing that he deeply cares about the team’s success.
Rohit Sharma has been under scrutiny for his poor recent form, having scored only 152 runs in his last 13 Test innings at an average of 11.83. His leadership and performance have faced criticism, especially following India’s losses to New Zealand and Australia.
