Women’s rights groups and NGOs have called for stricter action against sexual abuse perpetrators, including the death penalty. It should be noted that this law made in the state of Kaduna in Nigeria, the most populous country in Africa, is the strictest law ever.
Under the newly amended Kaduna State law, a person who rapes a girl over the age of 14 can be sentenced to life imprisonment. Earlier, he was sentenced to 21 years in prison in one case of child abuse and life imprisonment in another case.
The new law also stipulates that the male or female offender’s fallopian tubes will be removed if he or she is found guilty of abusing a child under 14 years of age.
