A suicide car bomb blast in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province killed 15 people yesterday, killing Afghanistan’s international umpire Bismillah Jan Shinwari and injuring 30 others. Obaidullah Shinwari, a member of the Nangarhar provincial council, confirmed that eight civilians were also killed in the terrorist attack.
The terrorists tried to enter the compound of the district governor in Ghani Khel district of Nangarhar province. A car bomb exploded while the terrorists were trying to enter the compound, killing 15 people and injuring 30 others. In retaliation, security forces killed all the terrorists. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but the Afghan government has blamed the Taliban.
On the other hand, former media manager of Afghanistan Cricket Board Ibrahim Mohmand claimed in a tweet that Bismillah Jan Shinwari, the international umpire of Afghanistan, was also killed in the blast. He said that seven members of the umpire’s family were also killed in the blast. Umpire Bismillah Jan Shinwari has officiated in several international matches but has not been confirmed or denied by the Afghan Cricket Board or the International Cricket Council.
