PPP members took the position that alliances do not work like this, everyone has to be led in confidence. According to the PPP, they wanted to hold a rally on October 18 on the occasion of the tragedy.

The meeting also discussed the rotation of PDM posts. Some parties strongly opposed the rotation basis. It may be recalled that at the request of Nawaz Sharif, Maulana Fazlur Rehman was made the head of the PDM, which was opposed by the PPP. His position was that the post should be given on the basis of rotation.

During the meeting, members of some parties took the position that rotation could end the alliance. On the other hand, the PDM has once again changed the date of its first meeting. The PPP had requested the PDM to change the date of the meeting.

The PPP had asked the PDM leadership to hold a meeting on October 18 every year regarding the tragedy. The PDM’s steering committee has accepted the PPP’s request. The first PDM meeting will now be held on October 16 in Gujranwala.
