During the hearing of Justice Qazi Faiz Issa’s review case in the Supreme Court today, the lawyer of the Supreme Court bar Latif Afridi could not appear in the Supreme Court today due to ill health. The decision is saved to the extent of forming a bench.
After which the Supreme Court, while seeking arguments from President Bar Latif Afridi within a week, adjourned the hearing of the case indefinitely. Other petitioners, including Justice Qazi Faiz, had objected to the case in a six-member bench. At the last hearing, the President of the Supreme Court had said in his arguments that only a 10-member bench deciding on review petitions could hear the case.
Justice Umrata Bandial had said in his remarks that in the review case, it was necessary to state what was wrong with the decision. Justice Muneeb Akhtar, who was present on the bench, had said in his remarks that we are talking on principle and not on any particular case.
Lawyer Munir A. Malik in his arguments said that if not impossible then the same bench should sit in the review case, the number of judges should not be changed or reduced in the review case.
At the last hearing, Justice Qazi Faiz Issa’s wife Serena Issa had asked the court if I could get a recording or transcript of the proceedings of the case.
