The second-longest motorway in the country has been approved. The Peshawar-DI Khan Motorway will be 360 km long and will cost Rs 270 billion. According to details, the PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to build the third-longest motorway in the country. It has been reported that a 360 km long highway will be constructed from the provincial capital Peshawar to DI Khan for the southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mehmood Khan had in principle approved the alignment of DI Khan Motorway from Peshawar last year, after which the survey for the construction of the project is currently underway. It was informed that the proposed alignment of DI Khan Motorway from Peshawar is about 360 km long, consisting of 18 interchanges, 45 bridges, and 3 tunnels, through which all the villages and towns inhabiting the southern districts and tehsils are deprived of development. Areas will be given access.
The motorway will run from Chamkani in Peshawar to Dara Adamkhel, Kohat, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, and DI Khan. At an estimated cost of about Rs. 250 billion, a commitment has been made to start this project soon and complete it expeditiously.
It should be noted here that this will be the second motorway project launched by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Earlier, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had launched the Swat Motorway project. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is the first province in the country to start a motorway project with its resources. Phase One of the Swat Motorway has been completed, while work on Phase Two will begin in August next year.
