Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Bazdar imposed a complete ban on Basant across Punjab. The Punjab Chief Minister directed that implementation of the law banning kite flying should be ensured. There were reports of preparations for Basant celebrations in the second week of February in several cities including Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, and Sahiwal.
