Hurricanes and the Corona epidemic in India have exacerbated the situation, and vaccination campaigns have been halted in many areas.

A powerful storm in the Arabian Sea is currently moving towards the west coast of India.

Authorities are trying to evacuate thousands of people from the storm-hit state, while the ongoing vaccination campaign has been halted.

Cyclone Tauktae has so far killed six people in southern India, while the Indian Meteorological Department has issued a warning for heavy rains and strong winds in the state of Gujarat on Monday evening with a speed of 175 kmph. It can take up to an hour.

Meteorologists also feared heavy damage in low-lying areas due to strong winds, heavy rains, and floods.
The storm in the Arabian Sea is hitting the Indian coast at a time when India is witnessing a sharp rise in corona cases.

Hurricanes and the Corona epidemic have exacerbated the situation, and vaccination campaigns have been halted in many areas.

The lockdown caused by the coronavirus is hampering rescue efforts, while damage to roads by the storm is likely to hamper supplies of medical supplies and vaccines.

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Ropani has directed state officials to ensure oxygen supply to hospitals. The vaccination campaign in Gujarat has been suspended for two days after which authorities have shifted hundreds of people to safer places.

The airport in Mumbai, Maharashtra, was also closed for several hours due to the storm. The boats at sea were also sent back to the ports in both states. Authorities have deployed hundreds of rescue teams with the necessary equipment.

It may be recalled that in May last year, about 100 people were killed in Cyclone Tauktae in the East India Sea.
