KARACHI: Five people were killed, and several others were injured in an explosion at a residential building in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.
The blast took place near Maskan Chowrangi in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of Karachi. It took place on the first floor of a four-storey residential building. There is also a private bank and three shops on the ground floor of the building. The blast was so powerful that it not only destroyed two floors of the building but also buried vehicles parked in the parking lot.
Nineteen injured in the blast have been rushed to hospitals, five of whom have died while seven are in critical condition. Two of the dead have been identified as security guards at a private bank under the building.
DG Rangers Sindh Major General Umar Bukhari also visited the site of the blast. On occasion, he said that the incidents of blasts that took place yesterday and today were being investigated and the conspirators would not be allowed to succeed. Citizens of Karachi should not be afraid. We have to stay strong. We will resolutely fight the enemy’s intentions.
