On Tuesday, a lion at the Karachi Zoological Gardens died after a heart attack. According to zoo officials, the feline died after reaching its usual age.

The Asiatic lion died of heart failure at the city zoo, according to the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC). Two lions were unlawfully smuggled to Karachi in 2017 and were confiscated by the District East administration and the Sindh Wildlife Department.

They were later shifted to a separate enclosure in the Karachi Zoo, which is managed by the KMC. A devastating heart attack claimed the life of the second of the two felines. According to the post-mortem report, a fatty heart was the cause of the heart attack. “The lions were getting close to the end of their natural lives. According to a KMC official, one of them died in January 2018.

According to the post-mortem study, the lion’s heart attack was caused by a big amount of fat in his arteries. A lion’s maximum age, according to a KMC official, is 18 years.
