The young emerging Mix Martial Art (MMA) fighter Junaid Khan, who hails from district Mardan of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is optimistic to represent Pakistan on national in MMA fights despite the facts that he has not enough resources and training facilities.
Junaid Khan 21, who recently knocked out his Afghani opponent in a fight held in Peshawar in 47 seconds, is committed to play for Pakistan and honor his country’s name in the world.
While talking to the Pak Affairs, Junaid Khan said that he has fought many local fights and have all of them and was committed to moving on with optimism and full determination.
Junaid Khan said that he has the talent and courage to play on national and international levels for his country, but the lack of facilities and resources has hindered him from achieving the goals he is dreaming of.
Talking about his own training Junaid Khan stated that every fighter needs financial support as well as proper training in camp before a fight from which he is deprived since he has started his MMA career on a domestic level.
He lamented that back in 2019; “I was challenged by my Afghani opponent for a fight in Peshawar for which I needed to join a proper camp with an expert trainer which needed money and I had no money for but still I did not give up and sold my mobile phone for joining the camo and get trained.”
He lamented that he was hailing from a poor family and many of his high-level fights were canceled as he had no resources to get trained with an expert and good teacher.
It must be noted that besides several other barriers, Junaid Khan is also facing strong opposition from his family especially his parents as they did not want him to be a player of MMA as his parents and other family members considered MMA as a brutal game.
Junaid Khan concluded that there were many numbers of talented fighters in KP who needed resources and facilities to boost and polish their talent and abilities and play for Pakistan, but the consistent ignorance of the government and sports department will finally lose all of such talented fighters forever
