According to Russia’s embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan’s president, Ashraf Ghani, fled the country with four cars and a helicopter loaded with cash. The Russian embassy’s spokesman, Nikita Ishchenko, revealed, ” “Four cars were filled with money, and they attempted to fit the rest of it into a helicopter, but not all of it fit. And some of the cash was left on the tarmac.”

Ashraf Ghani, on the other hand, claims he fled the country to avoid “bloodshed” because the capital had fallen into the hands of the Taliban, who took over the presidential palace after Ghani fled. Ghani stated on Facebook that the Taliban will now be responsible for upholding the people’s “honor, wealth, and preservation.” He further said that choosing between the “armed Taliban” or “leaving the dear country that I dedicated my life to protecting for the past 20 years” was difficult.
