The financial standing of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the wealthiest cricketing body in the world, has taken the cricketing world by surprise.

Reports indicate that the BCCI now holds an astonishing balance of INR 20,686 crores (over PKR 66,000 crores or $2.4 billion), marking a growth of INR 4,200 crores in 2024.

A significant portion of the BCCI’s revenue is generated from the sale of media rights for the Indian Premier League (IPL) and bilateral series. Additionally, the BCCI receives the largest share of revenue from the International Cricket Council (ICC), followed by England, Australia, and Pakistan.

In June 2022, the Indian board secured a deal for the IPL’s media rights, which were sold for INR 48,390 crores over a five-year period. For the fiscal year 2025-26, the BCCI is projected to earn approximately INR 10,540 crores, while its annual budget stands at just INR 2,348 crores.

The board also allocates a significant portion of its income in the form of annual grants to the 38 states across India.
