BEIJING: China has blamed the United States for recent tensions with Taiwan.

A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said in a weekly press briefing that the United States is responsible for the recent tensions with Taiwan. “Should China also send warships to the Gulf of Mexico to demonstrate its power?”

A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said the US ship is provoking the situation, which not only took matters in the wrong direction. But also posed a serious threat to peace and stability in Taiwan’s disputed region.

The Chinese government fears that Taiwan’s democratically elected government is formally moving toward a declaration of independence. In addition, China has repeatedly stated that Taiwan is the most sensitive and important issue for it. The President of China has said that Taiwan is an independent country called the “Republic of China”.

It should be noted that China declares Taiwan as its province while Taiwan claims to be a free, independent, and democratic country. Relations between China and Taiwan have always been strained, while Taiwan is not a member of the United Nations.
