Former cricketer Abdul Razzaq has opened up about his fleeting affair with stage actor Deedar, and confessed that the reason he couldn’t marry her was because of her stage career.
In a conversation with Shoaib Jatt on a local news channel, Razzaq admitted that he had, in fact, been seeing Deedar in the late 90s. There’s was a serious relationship and he really loved her but could not make things official.
“We became friends in 1999, and I never promised her that I’d marry her…” he said. “I had told her that we will decide with time. We remained friends but as for marriage, I had given her six months to make a decision,” added the former all-rounder.
He continued to assure the host and viewers that he had told Deedar he would seriously consider marrying her if she chose to opt for a different career.
“She would say that I can’t leave my career or drama activities, so I told her that it would be hard for me to marry her given my family background…” said Razzaq, following which he recalled how she refused to leave her career behind and they eventually broke up.
However, he added that what they shared was true love. It’s been 20 years since the duo parted ways, moved on with their lives and found their soul mates. Razzaq is now married to Ayesha Razzaq while Deedar has been married to Hamza Bhatti since 2012.
