Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) Chief Maulana Fazl ur Rehman has termed appointment of Director General ISI as the domain of Army Chief, asking Prime Minister Imran Khan to refrain from meddling into the domain of other state institutions, reports The Nation.
While talking to media after offering condolence with the family of late Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan at his residence here yesterday, Maulana Fazl said the matter was not of the appointment of DG ISI but of a lieutenant general who is answerable to Chief of Army Staff. He said the prime minister’s stance on the issue has no ground as lieutenant general is subordinate to army chief.
Maulana Fazl further said that all such matters are always resolved through proper consensus. He said that the Constitution has drawn parameters for every state institution and any violation of these parameters has always caused unrest in the country.
Lashing out at PM Imran Khan, Maulana Fazl said that the PM should refrain from interfering into others’ domain, saying such meddling can affect the entire system of the country.
He also said that Pakistan Army was a disciplined institution and was the only hope of the people of Pakistan, adding that the damage done by the incumbent government to this institution was never ever done by any government in the history of Pakistan.
