After the Revenue Department decided to take possession of a disputed piece of land in his favor on Sunday, five powerful landlords allegedly killed a farmer.
Mazhar Abbas of Basti Islamabad, Toba Road, reported to the police that he disagreed with the landlord family of the same village about the ownership of a piece of agricultural land.
The complainant stated that he and his family had applied to the local revenue officials to have their land borderline determined.
He said that after a long hearing, the concerned revenue authorities not only decided the case but also visited the location to determine who owned the land.
When the local revenue officers left, he claimed, their competitor landlords arrived and began beating his family members, including his sisters. He said that his brother Muhammad Amir died as a result of the torture.
