Despite a growing demand for SUVs and a declining demand for sedans, Hyundai-Nishat is preparing to launch the Hyundai Sonata in Pakistan. Hyundai Nishat Motors has imported 456 Hyundai Sonata CKD kits.
The Hyundai-Nishat group has introduced a number of vehicles in Pakistan since its inception under the Auto Developmental Policy 2016-2021.
In March of this year, the company introduced the Pakistan Domestic Model/PKDM Elantra. Prior to that, the Hyundai Tucson went on sale to the general public and businesses in August 2020.
Sonata engine options include turbocharged versions such as the 1.6 T-GDI with 178 HP and the 2.5L T-GDI with 290HP. There is also a 2L 192 HP GDI Hybrid and a 2L 202HP Plugin Hybrid. Depending on the engine, it has a 6 or 8-speed automatic transmission or an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission.
However, the import documents/CKD kits for Pakistan show two more engine options: a 2L 158HP/ 196NM MPI [Multi-Point Injection] engine and a 2.5L 178HP/ 232NM MPI engine.
The price range will be between 7 and 9 million Pkr.
