According to the latest update from the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP), Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic, Syed Karar Hussain, and Superintendent of Police (SP) Traffic, M. Sarfaraz Virk, supervised an operation against vehicles with fancy number plates and tinted windows under the directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Qazi Jamil-ul-Rehman.

Special Squads had been constituted for the operation. As per reports, SSP Syed Karar Hussain and SP Sarfaraz Virk were in the field for three hours. Islamabad’s Sector G-8 was the point of operation where 111 vehicles were fined against charges of fancy license plates and window tints.

The ITP had conducted a similar operation against overspeeding and unauthorized licenses in May under the instructions of SSP Traffic, Farukh Rashid. While talking to the media, IGP Qazi Jamil-u-Rehman stated that driving licenses would have 10 points that would be deducted against serious violations and that the loss of 10 points would result in the suspension of a license.

SSP (Operations) Syed Mustafa Tanweer had tweeted in the past to encourage the citizens of Islamabad to bring their complaints to him, and the initiative had been welcomed by the public.

Considering the steps being taken by the city administration, such operations are likely to continue.
