Famous fast food chains KFC and Pizza Hut have announced the halt of operations for their all restaurants in Turkey. The decision was made after consumers in the country launched a boycott against them for their involvement in and support for Israeli politics.
The boycott is part of a global campaign criticizing the complex political situation in the Middle East and Israel’s actions, international media reported. Sales of KFC and Pizza Hut in Turkey have fallen sharply, well below the global average.

The companies also noted in their statement that the growth in the Turkish market from 2020 to 2023 was 300 percent. However, recent boycotts have made it difficult for restaurant chains to continue operating.
Boycotts against companies that support Israel are becoming increasingly influential in Muslim countries. Not only in Turkey but also in Pakistan, a significant decline in the sales of McDonald’s, KFC, Pepsi, and Coca-Cola has been recorded.
Remember that, KFC and Pizza Hut are among several Western brands in Türkiye that have been subject to boycott calls over their links to Israel, which has killed more than 47,000 people in Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023 and continues violations in the occupied West Bank.
