Gold Deposits Valued at Rs. 700 Billion Unearthed in Attock
Gold deposits estimated at Rs. 700 billion have been discovered in Attock, Punjab, according to Punjab Minister for Minerals, Sardar Sher Ali Gorchani. The find, spanning a 32-kilometer-wide area, contains approximately 2.8 million tolas of gold, as reported by the Geological Survey of Pakistan.
Efforts to accurately assess the reserves will involve Nespak and other firms, while an auction for these deposits is planned for next month. The auction will be advertised internationally, with an auction committee already in place. Approval of auction rules is expected in an upcoming Punjab cabinet meeting on Tuesday.
To prevent illegal gold extraction, authorities have imposed Section 144 in the area. The minister confirmed that no incidents of theft have been reported thus far.
