The Islamabad Wildlife Management Board has recently taken over the Monal Restaurant. The restaurant owner has been given 42 hours to vacate the premises.
On January 11, Chief Justice Athar Minallah of the Islamabad High Court ordered the closure of the Monal Restaurant in the Margalla Hills. Commercial operations on the area of the Islamabad Hills National Park, he decided, must be prohibited at all costs.
The court had ordered that the area be returned to the park once again.
The IWMB has been planning to build a Wildlife Educational Centre in Monal’s place to promote awareness about Margalla Hills National Park’s protection and preservation.
