Former Pakistani cricketer Nasir Jamshed, who was convicted in a spot-fixing case, could not be released from British jail despite completing his sentence today. The British Home Office has stopped the release order of the former Pakistani cricketer.
According to foreign media reports, the British Home Office has stopped the release order of Nasir Jamshed. They said that the cricketer is facing deportation from the UK.
According to the Home Office, a person sentenced to less than 12 months is not deported in the UK. While a court sentenced the former cricketer to 17 months in a spot-fixing case.
Former cricketer Nasir Jamshed and his accomplices Yousuf Anwar and Mohammad Ijaz were arrested on February 7 in a spot-fixing case. Still, during the trial, Nasir Jamshed pleaded guilty in Crown Court. The Crown Court sentenced him to 17 months in prison.
The Crown Court sentenced Nasir Jamshed’s other accomplices Yousuf Anwar to three-and-a-half years and Ijaz Ahmed to two-and-a-half years. While the three convicts were arrested from the courtroom.
It should be noted that the Pakistan Cricket Board has already banned former Pakistan cricketer for ten years.
