Pakistan has decided to import the Covid vaccine manufactured in India. According to Dunya News, the SMS correspondent, they will import the AstraZeneca vaccine from India. The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan recently arrested two foreigners. Covid-19 vaccines are allowed for emergency use in the country, including the Chinese vaccine Cyano form and the vaccine developed by AstraZeneca.
Akhtar Abbas, the media coordinator of DRAP in Islamabad, said that in the next 24 hours, SMS will be issued a formal permit for vaccination of AstraZeneca after which a private company will be able to import the vaccine. The Serum Institute of India, located in Una, Maharashtra, is the largest vaccine manufacturer in the world, producing globally approved World Health Organization vaccines.
On the other hand, Dr. Faisal Sultan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Health, said that it would not be easy to provide vaccines to the entire population of the country. Staff, people over the age of 65 will be vaccinated, government-provided vaccines will be free, and there is no restriction on the private sector or provincial government to obtain vaccines.
Briefing the media, Dr. Faisal Sultan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Health, said that DRAP has approved two Covid vaccines but the supply of vaccines to the entire population of the country will not be easy. He said that initially 20 million doses of covid vaccine would be procured for Pakistan. He said that the covid vaccine is being discussed with Cinno Farm and consignment companies while the efficacy of Cinno Farm has been recorded at 80% and this vaccine is being used in many countries.
