The honey dealers in Peshawar have claimed that Pakistan every year export 4,000 tons of honey worth nearly Rs2.8 billion to the Arab world.
Lal Khan a senior dealer of honey who is associated with this trade for the last 20 years said that the honey produced in Pakistan attracts thousands in Arab world and also in the rest of the countries across the globe.
He stated that Pakistan exports bair (jujube) honey, which is produced in September and October, to Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries in huge quantities.
He said that most people in that region like the product since it does not solidify. Arabs also use honey more frequently because Islamic teachings emphasize its medicinal properties.
