Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that Pakistan wants a peaceful, comprehensive, and lasting solution to the Afghan problem. Pakistan has played a conciliatory role under the joint responsibility of the US-Taliban agreement.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi telephoned his Afghan counterpart Muhammad Hanif Atmar.
During the meeting, the two Foreign Ministers discussed bilateral relations, the Afghan peace process, and issues of mutual interest.
On the occasion, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that he was committed to establishing a border market in the border area.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi stressed the need to finalize the draft bilateral agreement soon.
He said that Pakistan wanted a peaceful, comprehensive, and lasting solution to the Afghan problem, adding that Pakistan had played a conciliatory role under the US-Taliban agreement.
He said that the inter-Afghan dialogue is a rare opportunity for lasting peace in Afghanistan, adding that the outcome of the inter-Afghan dialogue is essential for peace and stability in the region.
The Foreign Minister also raised the issue of early release of Pakistanis imprisoned for petty crimes with his Afghan counterpart.
The Pak-Afghan Foreign Ministers agreed to continue consultations for the Afghan peace process, peace, and stability.
