The Local Government and Community Development department has agreed to set a two percent employment quota for trans people in numerous positions that have been empty for a long time in local governments, councils (Metropolitan / Municipal Corporations, Union Councils, etc.), the Walled City of Lahore Authority, the Local Government Board, and the department.
“We have made a policy decision to set aside 2% of all open positions for trans people who are begging at junctions, streets, and marketplaces because they are jobless. By following Pakistan’s Constitution, which guarantees equal rights to all citizens without discrimination,” said Noorul Amin Mengal, the department’s secretary.
The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) just published the full findings of the 6th Population and Housing Census 2017 on its website, which show that the country’s overall population is 207.68 million, with a 2.4 percent annual growth rate.
There are 106.018 million males, 101.344 million females, and 321,744 transgender people in the population.
