MOSCOW: Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law allowing him to run for president twice more.
According to the International News Agency, under new legislation in Russia, President Vladimir Putin, who has ruled the country for 22 years, will be eligible to run for the presidency twice more.
The law allows Russian President Vladimir Putin to run for president until 2036 when he will run twice more. Vladimir Putin’s current presidency ends in 2024.
Since 1999, Vladimir Putin has twice been elected president and twice prime minister, meaning he has ruled Russia completely in the twentieth century, after holding a referendum last year to become president for life.
In a referendum on July 1 last year, Putin, 67, won more than 73 percent of the vote and was allowed to run for president until 2036, a law that has now become law.
It should be noted that the dictator of the Soviet Union Joseph Stalin also ruled without participation from 1927 to 1953 (26 years) and it seems that this record will be broken by Putin who has been in power for 22 years.
