Islamabad: Security has been tightened in the federal capital Islamabad and Punjab following a terrorist attack at a mosque in Peshawar. IG Islamabad Amir Zulfiqar Khan has issued instructions to tighten checks on entrances and exits of the federal capital. Besides, the security of other necessary government and non-government buildings, including the red zone of Islamabad has also been tightened.

IG Islamabad has directed DIG Operations and other senior officers to supervise the self-checking. Inam Ghani has also issued an order to raise security high alert across the province after the Peshawar blast. All Punjab police officers are directed to increase security in sensitive places and public places. Especially areas of worship to stop a terrorist attack.

The IG Punjab has directed other officers including DPOs, to go out in the field and review the security arrangements at sensitive places. Further ordered to make the checking process at inter-provincial and inter-district check posts more effective. Inam Ghani said that the patrolling hours of Dolphin forces in public places should be further increased. IG Punjab has directed that search, sweep and intelligence-based operations be intensified in all districts.
