Sindh cabinet rejects presidential ordinance on Bundle Island

The Sindh Cabinet unanimously rejected the Presidential Ordinance of the Island Development Authority of Pakistan. Local Government Minister Nasir Hussain Shah said that these islands belong to the Sindh government and so only the people and poor fishers have the right on this island.

Sindh Minister for Information and Local Government Nasir Hussain Shah and Law and Environment Advisor Murtaza Wahab along with Information Secretary Imran Ata Soomro spoke to the media after the meeting of the provincial cabinet.

Nasir Hussain Shah said that the Sindh Cabinet unanimously rejects the illegal and unconstitutional ordinance of the Island Development Authority of Pakistan, these islands belong to the Sindh government and people and will remain, only the people and poor fishers have the right.

He said that no opinion or consultation has been held with the Sindh government regarding the ordinance, how can such an illegal and unconstitutional ordinance be accepted which is for the betterment of the Sindh without any consent.

Nasir Hussain Shah also said that the provincial cabinet has decided to refuse to accept such unconstitutional ordinance, the federal government should immediately withdraw and repeal the ordinance, such development should not be done in the interest of the people.

The provincial minister said that the local population and fishermen will not be harmed in any way, Sindh land will not be allowed to be occupied, local fishermen have a right on Sindh islands, the presidential ordinance is against provincial sovereignty and public interest. The Sindh government has decided to withdraw the NOC and letter issued to the federation on the issue of construction of Bundle Island.
