The NED University of Engineering and Technology, one of Pakistan’s oldest institutions for teaching and producing engineering graduates, celebrated its 100th anniversary this year. The varsity’s academic journey began in 1921 when it was known as the Prince of Wales Engineering College and was located on James Strachan Road in the Old City Area.
The State Bank of Pakistan issued 50,000 commemorative “Rs.100” coins to commemorate the NED University of Engineering and Technology’s 100-year academic journey on July 1, 2021.

Prof Lodi also mentions that the university is in talks with Pakistan Post about printing a commemorative postage stamp to commemorate NED’s 100th anniversary. “We have received a very positive response from Pakistan Post officials. We have already submitted our final design for approval to the appropriate officials. Pakistan Post is expected to approve the postage”, he adds.
The university currently employs over 540 faculty members. More than 200 of these faculty members hold doctorates, with the remaining members pursuing PhDs. The university offers 34 undergraduate programs, over 50 master’s programs, and 21 doctoral programs.
