LAHORE: Abid Malhi, the main accused in a motorway rape case, has been arrested from Faisalabad. According to News, Abid Malhi, the main accused, has also been arrested after Shafqat, one of the two accused of raping a woman on the motorway. According to the police, the accused was arrested from the Manga Mandi area of Faisalabad and is being shifted to Lahore.

Confirming the arrest of the accused, Punjab government spokesman Shahbaz Gill said in his tweet that the accused would be punished according to law. Abid had fled his home and become a scapegoat since the rape case on the motorway became a high profile case. Police also arrested the accused’s wife, several relatives, and friends and obtained all kinds of information, but the accused did not come to hand. Police conducted four raids on intelligence to arrest the accused, but each time he escaped shortly before the raid.
