The US State Department has said that there is no military solution to the Afghan problem. A political settlement through inter-Afghan dialogue is the only way to lasting peace and stability.
The US State Department used the word “extended troika” in a joint statement after a meeting of representatives of the United States, Russia, China and Pakistan on Afghanistan in Doha.
The statement said peace efforts should not be hampered by the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of Afghanistan, the Taliban and Qatar. The meeting agreed to intensify efforts for an inter-Afghan political solution.
