The suspension of Umrah was made by Saudi Arabia to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Now the authorities of Saudi Arabia announced that the suspension would be lifted in phases. Minister of Hajj and Umrah Mohammed Saleh Benten said that public health remains the Kingdom’s top priority. Still, now the ministry is preparing a three-stage plan for the gradual restoration of the pilgrimage.
During the first phase, Saudi citizens and people living in the Kingdom will perform the minor pilgrimage. In the second phase, 75 percent of citizens are allowed, and in phase third phase, full capacity will be restored, and pilgrims from outside the Kingdom will be allowed to return.
