India’s Alleged Covert Operations in Pakistan Revealed by Washington Post

A recent report has shed light on allegations of India’s involvement in targeted assassinations in Pakistan, reportedly orchestrated by its intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW).

The report suggests that since 2021, RAW has been linked to at least six targeted killings in Pakistan. These operations allegedly involved Afghan shooters and Pakistani criminals to avoid implicating Indian nationals directly. Investigators in Pakistan claim RAW used intermediaries based in the Middle East and informal banking systems, known as hawala, to fund these covert activities.

Prominent cases highlighted include the 2023 assassination of Syed Khalid Raza and the earlier killing of Zahoor Mistry, reportedly orchestrated by a RAW operative using the alias “Tanaz Ansari.” Similar strategies were reportedly employed in the murder of Shahid Latif in the same year.

These allegations are reminiscent of accusations against India for extraterritorial killings of Khalistan separatists in Canada and the U.S., incidents that have further strained India’s diplomatic ties with Western nations.

Pakistan has called for international scrutiny of these alleged actions, asserting they represent a breach of sovereignty. Meanwhile, India has neither confirmed nor denied the claims, maintaining that such killings do not align with official policy.
