Meta-owned WhatsApp is introducing a significant update to its Business application, with a new feature that allows users to customize the primary theme color in both light and dark modes. This feature is currently being rolled out to selected beta testers and is expected to enhance user control over the app’s visual presentation, offering a fresh take on its interface.

According to WABetaInfo, this update marks a departure from WhatsApp Business’s traditional green branding color. The new feature enables businesses to opt for different primary colors, offering more customization for the app’s visual identity. WhatsApp has automatically designated new accent colors for both the light and dark themes in this iteration.

In the light theme, the accent color has been updated to black, while the dark theme now uses white as its primary accent color. These changes replace the previous light blue accent color that was prominently featured in the WhatsApp Business app. Alongside these theme updates, the app has also introduced black and white icons across various sections, such as the app settings, the chat information screen, and the business banner at the top of the chat list. These changes help enhance the app’s visual clarity, especially for users navigating through business-related features.

The shift to black and white accent colors in WhatsApp Business provides a distinct visual identity when compared to WhatsApp Messenger, which continues to feature its traditional green color. This design choice is deliberate, as it helps users easily differentiate between the two applications, reducing the risk of confusion about which app is being used at any given time.

While the accent color changes are quite noticeable, the core design and interface of both WhatsApp Business and WhatsApp Messenger remain largely the same. This ensures that users’ overall experience with the apps remains consistent, even as the visual theme updates provide a fresh, customizable touch.

The introduction of this new feature is part of Meta’s ongoing efforts to enhance user experience and engagement, particularly for businesses looking for a more personalized and visually distinct way to manage their WhatsApp communication. With the feature currently available to beta testers, it’s expected that a wider rollout will follow in the near future, allowing all users of WhatsApp Business to explore the new customization options.
