PPP Senator Yousuf Raza Gilani has been appointed Leader of the Opposition in the Senate. The Senate Secretariat has issued a notification in this regard.
Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjarani also congratulated PPP leader Qayyum Soomro on the notification of the appointment of Yousuf Raza Gilani as Leader of Opposition.
Apart from the senators, Senator Talha Mahmood of JUI-F was also present in the office of the Chairman Senate.
Earlier, PPP Senator Yousuf Raza Gilani had submitted the petition of the Leader of the Opposition with the signatures of 30 members in the Senate.
According to sources, Dilawar Khan, an independent senator from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has decided to form his own parliamentary independent group in the Senate. He will form his own independent group with the support of independent senators elected from KP and Balochistan.
Sources said that an independent group of senators led by Senator Dilawar Khan would support the opposition.
Independent Senator Hidayatullah and Senator Hilal-ur-Rehman have also signed in support of Yousuf Raza Gilani for Leader of the Opposition in the Senate.
