Universities across the country have been allowed to resume on-campus activities under strict COVID-19 SOPs from 7 June, Federal Education Minister, Shafqat Mahmood, has confirmed. While responding to a student on Twitter, the Education Minister penned that all universities in the country are allowed to open from Monday.

It may be recalled that universities were shut down in March this year due to a sharp rise in COVID-19 cases in the country. They were originally scheduled to reopen from 24 May. However, the government decided to extend their closure till 7 June.

A day earlier, Shafqat Mahmood presided over the Inter-Provincial Education Minister Conference (IPEMC) to finalize the pattern of matriculation and intermediate exams that will start after 10 July in the country. The IPEMC decided to take exams of only elective subjects of matric and inter students in order to facilitate them.
