Accused Shafqat, who was detained in the Lahore Motorway rape case, has confessed to the crime. Accused Shafqat was arrested last night. According to the police, accused Shafqat has also admitted to being involved in a rape case, a friend of the main accused, Abid Ali. Shafqat was arrested from Depalar on the indication of Waqarul Hassan. The DNA of accused Shafqat has also been matched.
Arrested accused Waqar Al Hassan had revealed during interrogation that the main accused named in the case, Abid, had been involved in various incidents with a man named Shafqat for some time. According to Waqarul Hassan, Abid’s friend Shafqat is a Bahawalnagar resident, and the two accused have been committing crimes together for some time.
Police had sent teams to Bahawalnagar and Sheikhupura to arrest Shafqat after Waqarul Hassan’s revelation. Abid, the main accused in the case, has not been arrested yet. Police arrested two brothers and his father. Residents of the area had also made statements against accused Abid and his family members.
