An all-party conference of opposition parties against the government has started in which former President Asif Ali Zardari and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif are participating through video link. Addressing a video link at the launch of the APC, former president, and co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari stressed that today’s conference should decide how to restore democracy in the country.
Former Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif, who joined APC from London through a video link, said in his address that our competition is not with Imran but with those who brought him. PML-N will fully support whatever strategy is decided by the AP. We will not back down for even a second. Deviate from tradition and plan for real change.
For the first time since leaving for London for medical treatment, PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif has said that it is dishonest to give power to a few people. If the election results had not changed, there would have been a government on crutches. Sadly, the matter has reached beyond the state.
He said that every dictator in the country ruled for an average of nine years. The hands and feet are tied when a democratic government is formed by the people’s vote. In our history, 33 years have been sacrificed to military dictatorship. Not once in the 73-year history has an elected Prime Minister been allowed to complete his term. The weakening of the state structure is also ignored. The public mandate is stolen, Pakistan has been turned into a laboratory of experiments.
Criticizing the government’s foreign policy, he said Pakistan should work with other countries to strengthen the OIC. Foreign policy has been made a child’s play. One has to wonder why our neighboring countries have stopped trusting us. Under what plan did Shah Mehmood Qureshi make a statement that angered Saudi Arabia? Seeing the puppet government, India has made Kashmir its part, and we could not even protest.
