Despite government efforts to control inflation, the prices of essential commodities continue to rise, with chicken meat experiencing a sharp increase nationwide.

In Islamabad, chicken prices have nearly doubled in just one week. The cost of chicken meat jumped from Rs450 to Rs880 per kg, while live chicken prices surged from Rs285 to Rs460 per kg. Desi chicken prices reached an all-time high of Rs900 per kg.

A similar trend was observed in Lahore, where the price of broiler chicken meat has exceeded Rs700 per kg. Although the official rate was set at Rs595, reports suggest chicken meat is being sold for as much as Rs730 per kg at Tollinton Market.

The situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa mirrors the national pattern. In Peshawar, chicken prices increased by Rs70 in a week, reaching Rs510 per kg, while live chicken, previously priced at Rs440 per kg, also saw a significant hike over the weekend.
