China’s high diplomat is going to visit North Korea

China’s top diplomat and state councilor Yang Jiechi visits South-Korea to discuss matters of mutual interests. The visit came amid renewed tension between South and North Korea. According to South Korean officials, this visit will hold talks on North-Korea and other issues with South Korean NSA Suh Hoon. Yang’s visit to South Korea would be his first visit in more than two years. The diplomat is considered to be an influential official as he doubles as director of the office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee.
