Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided to appoint Rauf Hassan as Special Assistant to the Chief of Information. Rauf Hassan is the brother of former Prime Minister Principal Secretary Fawad Hassan Fawad.
According to sources, Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided to appoint Rauf Hassan as Special Information Assistant. On Asim Saleem Bajwa’s resignation, the post of Special Assistant is vacant. On which Rauf Hassan is likely to be deployed. The issuance notification of Rauf Hassan’s appointment has been indicated.
Lieutenant General (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa resigned as Special Assistant of Prime Minister Imran Khan for Information and Broadcasting. “He asked Prime Minister Imran Khan to allow him to resign from the additional post of Special Assistant for Information and Broadcasting.”
He said in a tweet on social networking site Twitter that the Prime Minister has approved his resignation request. Asim Saleem Bajwa was the chairman of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as well as holding the additional post of special assistant. After allegations surfaced about his family’s assets, he decided to step down as a special assistant.
Asim Saleem Bajwa submitted his resignation to the Prime Minister in early September, but Prime Minister Imran Khan did not accept his resignation and said that he is satisfied with the evidence and explanation presented by Lieutenant General (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa. The Prime Minister said him to continue his work as a Special Assistant.
Earlier, Asim Saleem Bajwa had denied the allegations levelled against him and issued a four-page detailed statement. He said that Ahmad Noorani published news about me on August 27, 2020, on an unknown website, which I reject as false and untrue.
