Senator Faisal Vawda has alleged that former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief, Lieutenant General (retd) Faiz Hameed, has submitted evidence, including devices, against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.

Speaking on News’ program, Vawda stated, “Faiz Hameed has provided crucial evidence that will further escalate troubles for Imran Khan and his associates.”

He claimed that the trial of Faiz Hameed has undermined PTI’s call for civil disobedience. “Without Faiz Hameed’s trial, the PTI founder, his wife, and associates might not have faced these challenges,” he remarked.

The former minister suggested that Imran Khan could potentially face a military trial and mentioned that investigations into other charges against Faiz Hameed are ongoing.

Vawda also accused PTI of planning a new social media campaign aimed at shifting public opinion by likening Pakistan’s current situation to Syria, portraying prisoners there as Pakistanis to gain sympathy.

The senator urged the government to engage in dialogue with PTI to resolve the crisis. “While Nawaz Sharif leads the ruling party, he has yet to make any statement supporting negotiations,” Vawda added, appreciating Imran Khan’s willingness to discuss.

Earlier, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif highlighted the alleged political partnership between Imran Khan and Faiz Hameed, stating that Faiz Hameed played a pivotal role in bringing Khan to power. He noted that their collaboration began before the 2018 elections and extended through significant events, including those of May 9.

Khawaja Asif also emphasized that the legal framework would decide the outcome of Imran Khan’s potential military trial, recalling that civilians were subjected to military trials during PTI’s tenure.

The developments come amid growing political tensions and investigations into alleged misconduct by key figures.
