Former ISI Director General Lt. Gen. Zaheerul Islam denied Nawaz Sharif’s allegations, saying he had never asked former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to resign.
Lieutenant General (retd) Zaheerul Islam denied allegations that he had sent any message to Nawaz Sharif through any person. “I have not sent anyone to convey any message to the prime minister. This doesn’t seem right,” he said.

The former DG ISI must have kept advising the government to deal with the PTI and Awami Tehreek politically so that the protests would end during the 2014 sit-in (Dharana).

It may be recalled that a few days ago. Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif claimed that former ISI chief Lieutenant General (retd) Zaheer-ul-Islam had sent a message to him during the 2014 anti-government sit-in to resign midnight.

During a meeting of the PML-N Central Executive Committee, Nawaz Sharif told party members that he had received a midnight message.

Nawaz Sharif had said that you would have to suffer the consequences if you do not do so, and martial law can be enforced.

The former prime minister had also claimed that I said do whatever you want, but I will not resign. However, Nawaz Sharif did not name the person who came to him with a message from the DG ISI. Zaheerul Islam denied allegations categorically the former prime minister.
