A four-year-old girl was killed during a robbery at mini-mart Landhi Manzil Pump in Karachi. A suspected robber was also get injured.
An exchange of gunfire took place between the mart’s security guard and dacoit while escaping the mart after they raided, according to police. Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage shows the exchange of gunfire.
To rob the store near the Landhi Manzil pump, three robbers entered. The retail store security guard responded with his firearm when the dacoits opened fire while exiting the mart. One of the robbers was shot and injured, while a minor girl on a motorcycle with her older brother was also hit by a gunshot, according to police.
The injured girl was transported to a local hospital, but she died there. Her brother sued the authorities for justice.
The minor’s body was taken to Jinnah hospital for a postmortem, according to the police. The injured dacoit was taken to the hospital as well.
Police are also looking into whether the gunshot that struck the girl was fired by the security guard or by the dacoits.
The injured suspect Pyar Ali was arrested by police, and firearms and Rs50,000 were retrieved from his hands, while the other two suspects managed to flee.
