In Indonesia, people who ignore the coronavirus SOPs are being given unusual punishments. According to the foreign news agency, a citizen caught without a face mask will either pay a fine or be punished for lying in a coffin. Those who do not follow the rules are punished by lying in coffins, including digging graves, praying for the victims of COVID 19 in cemeteries, and doing push-ups.
Pando Rivono, an epidemiologist at the University of Indonesia, said many of the restrictions were not effective in raising public awareness, but would be considered a joke. The purpose of prescribing the punishment is that those who are careless in the plague may feel the nearness of death in the same way.
