According to State-run TV, Iranian officials unveiled the two new missiles on Thursday. The missiles are named after slain top Iranian General Qassim Soleimani and Iraqi militia leader Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, killed in the US strike at the start of the year 2020. Iran’s Defense Minister Amir Hatami said the ballistic missile had a range of 1,400 km and the new cruise missile had 1,000 km. Meanwhile, experts believe the latest Iranian move is a response to US earlier efforts at UNSC to refresh arms embargo on Iran.
