Japan, has experimentally installed high-tech covers on manhole in the city Tokorozawa.

The municipality of Tokorozawa, Japan, has experimentally installed high-tech covers on manhole in the city that can display various comic and cartoon characters in LED displays.
The invention was made to improve the city’s drainage system, north of Tokyo. Experimentally, a total of 27 manholes have LED displays on which some designs appear to change color rapidly.
At 5 o’clock in the evening, the cover turn on automatically and close at 2 o’clock at night. The first cover was installed on August 1, but the practice of decorating manhole covers has been going on in Japan since 1980.
People in Japan believe in divinity characters, which is why comic characters and heroes are so popular here. Tokorozawa is the first city in Japan to have these LED covers , and people enjoy the color-changing scenery on these lids as they walk.
